Potential ESG downsides according to investors worldwide 2020

Investing in ESG assets might come with certain trade-offs for investors, where on one side are the expectations from clients, regulators, and society, and on the other side it might generate lower returns or higher risks. According to a survey from 2020, over 40 percent of investors stated that making ESG investments sometimes involves accepting lower returns or higher risks, and 17 percent stated that it always involves accepting lower returns or higher risk.
